After the movie we discussed the question whether the symbolic nature images ressembled the ones in "War and Peace" of Sergey Bondartchuk. Why did the idea of родина (homeland / Heimat) did persist through Soviet times (WW II as "Holy War")? Did the Bundist movement by using Yiddish (in Hebrew characters without vowels) have an influence on the creation of Russian abbreviations in early Soviet times? Why is even the criticism of State environmental damages that pathetic? Why didn't the censors intervene?
Why is the hopelessness so present in the life of today's Russians?
